The December 1 deadline was just as busy for Moon Prep students as the November 1 deadline this year, it seemed. The Regular Decision application deadlines are just around the corner. The good news is that the first college acceptances and interview invitations are within sight.
As seniors begin finalizing their Regular Decision college list for January applications, check out our latest blog post, Universities That Do Not Require Supplemental Essays. This might be an easy way to add a few more schools to your list.
Beyond Regular Decision applications, the seniors at Moon Prep are deep into interview prep at this point in the cycle. Between preparing for alumni interviews, Honors College interviews, and the first BS/MD interview requests, “interview month” has arrived in full force. If interviews have you worried, schedule a free call with Moon Prep to see how we can help you prepare for both traditional and MMI interviews.
Admissions News
Will Your Major Pay Off?
Many seniors are still struggling to select a major. If you find yourself in this boat, why not choose a highly lucrative major? Fastweb compiled a list of the 10 College Majors With The Highest Salaries For Graduates. Among the list are Chemical Engineering, as well as Statistics and Information Science. It looks like excelling in math can really pay off!
Study The Admissions Data
Coming from the record lows seen by college admissions officers before COVID, the early numbers released by the Common Application for this year have Admissions Directors feeling excited about their enrollment numbers. With an increase of 22% in applications since 2020, this upward trend is reversing the previous decline in applications of 6.5%. Interestingly enough, public institutions are seeing a greater rise than private colleges, a difference of 13%. International student applications are also on the rise, recuperating by 40% since 2020.
Spend Your Summer In Research
Research Science Institute (RSI) recently opened their applications for their 2022 summer science and engineering program. Held at MIT, this program typically accepts 80 scholars. Want more information on this prestigious program? Read the complete interview with their executives here.
Permanent Test-Optional Policies
One question we are often asked is the merit of applying test-optional. This year, the number of colleges that require test submission plummeted to 5%. While these submission requirements dropped to a new historic low, the number of applicants who submitted scores has actually increased from last year by 4%. Review the data yourself, and stay tuned for more analysis as the year progresses.
