Five Tips for Getting Off the Waitlist and Into the Admit Pile

As college experience record-breaking numbers with application numbers for the prospective incoming freshmen class, more students than any other year are finding themselves placed on the waitlist. Being added to the waitlist is essentially telling a student that the college liked your application, but they aren’t quite ready to offer you a seat in their classrooms yet. This is all part of the college admissions shuffle. If enough students from the first Early Decision round turn down their offers of admission, there will be room to accept more students from the waitlist. 

At this point, many schools ask waitlisted students to write a “letter of continued interest,” essentially updating the admissions department on any additions to your resume and academics since you first applied.
