2025 Admissions Cycle
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to get accepted to medical school as the competition intensifies each year. It is essential to approach the process with a strategy, and our seasoned counselors are here to help guide this strategy with you. Our latest podcast episode, Preparing for the 2025 Admissions Cycle – Part 1, shares a timeline of what items students should be accomplishing throughout the upcoming school year so they don’t fall behind. Stay ahead of the curve and secure your spot in medical school!
This is the perfect complement to our past episode, 2023/2024 Admissions Debrief, where we discussed everything we observed in the previous admissions cycle, changes and updates with many popular schools.
BS/MD Supplemental Essays
After the Personal Statement is polished, unfortunately, it’s not time to take a break from college essays just yet. Many parents are surprised to learn the number of supplemental essays required for each undergraduate school, especially with the direct medical programs and honors programs on their lists. Our focus should be on these supplemental essays as we move into the fall semester.
Moon Prep counselors break down the most common essay prompts and share insights on what admissions committees are looking for in terms of personal growth and content in our podcast episode, Answering the BS/MD Supplements.
The Personal Statement
As a reminder, here are the 2024-2025 Common App prompts. The Personal Statement should be between 250 and 650 words.

-
Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
-
Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?
-
Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
-
Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
-
Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you’ve already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.
