Rising Researchers Winter Camp: Exploring a New Stage of Astrophysics (the JWST Era) with a Focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
December 21, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - January 13, 2026 @ 8:30 pm EST
Schedule: 8 sessions – meeting 2x a week, approx. 75-90 mins each
Dates: Every Sunday and Tuesday (12/21/25 – 1/13/26)
Topics covered:
- You’ll dive into astrophysics, exploring exoplanet discovery, the characterization of stellar and galactic spectra, and the puzzlingly rapid origins of supermassive black holes discovered by the James Webb Space Telescope.
- You’ll learn how scientists use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) methods, like decision trees and neural networks, to analyze these data and make exciting discoveries.
- Using Python, you’ll begin exploring and analyzing real datasets, gaining hands-on experience with the same tools that professional astronomers use.
