Initial Role – Essay Coach
All new hires join our team as essay coaches. A strong editing background is required and essential since the average BS/MD applicant will apply to 20-30 schools and write 60+ essays as part of their application. As direct medical admissions programs are a very niche field within admissions services, we focus on providing close mentorship and in-depth training to new hires during their first year. New hires are paired with a lead counselor and work closely together. New hires will take the lead on the essay work while learning about the direct medical process from the lead counselor.
Some details regarding the role:
- We are fully remote and work with students in all time zones. Coaches need to be able to accommodate a variety of U.S. time zones.
- Nights/weekends are required since most H.S. students are not available when school is in session during weekday daytime hours.
- The job is seasonal with spring and early summer being slower times. The busiest season is fall/winter, specifically the months of Aug – Jan. It’s often busy around holiday time since this is when applications are due.
- The role involves online Zoom brainstorming sessions with the student and offline essay edits. The time is split between online and offline work.
- Success in this role involves timely email communication and strong follow-up skills. Moon Prep is committed to a positive client experience and this involves replying to emails promptly and helping the student stay on top of critical deadlines.
- The ideal candidate is looking for a long-term role. Moon Prep’s specialty is direct medical programs (BS/MD). This is a niche field of admissions and significant training and mentoring are needed to become an expert. The ideal candidate is committed to learning and wants to grow long-term with Moon Prep.
- Prefer candidates to be in the Pacific Time (PT) or Mountain Time (MT) zone.
- This is a 1099 position.
