Bio:
A counselor with Moon Prep, Loren partners with her students in a personalized manner, working with them one-on-one to showcase their individual strengths in their admission essays, readying them for the lengthy interview process, and helping them craft compelling applications for both traditional and direct medical programs. As a medical mentor and current MD/Ph.D. student, Loren is passionate about sharing her successful admissions journey with her students, making the process as smooth as possible while encouraging her students to dream big. She has experience editing BS/MD and medical school admissions essays, creating personalized school lists, and advising students on healthcare careers.

Alongside her mentoring at Moon Prep, Loren is currently an MD/Ph.D. student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she focuses on health behaviors and disparities. Having successfully endured the rigorous medical school admissions process, Loren is committed to implementing strategies that fit each student’s strengths and professional goals. As a graduate of a high school dual enrollment program and a current MD/Ph.D. student, Loren has personal experience with combined degree programs and understands the amount of dedication required. She brings passion and energy to her mentoring, and she loves to challenge students to realize their potential as they embark on a career in medicine.

Previously, Loren was a research assistant at Duke University, where she wrote and published scientific manuscripts, conducted and led qualitative and quantitative research studies, and edited the writing of non-native English speakers. She has experience working as a team manager in Tanzania, where she presided over a local research team where her work was published. With a background in global health, Loren has also worked on research projects on traumatic brain injuries, mental health, healthcare systems, and snakebite envenomations, making her a valuable resource to students exploring research and publishing opportunities.
