Bio:
An essay coach with Moon Prep, Vaishnavi aims to help students vocalize their passion for patient care while remaining honest and true to their own experiences. She offers personalized suggestions tailored to each student’s journey and creates a welcoming environment for students to share their goals, successes, and challenges. As a student who is in a direct entry program herself, Vaishnavi is well versed in BS/MD, BS/DO, and early assurance programs and provides advice on how to best tailor essays based on the value statements of different programs. Throughout their essay writing journey, from brainstorming to the final essay draft, she aims to support students in their personal and professional goals.
Alongside Vaishnavi’s mentoring at Moon Prep, Vaishnavi is currently a senior chemistry major at Washington and Jefferson College. Having successfully gained entry into an 8-year medical program herself, Vaishnavi is well versed in the application process, from developing a balanced college list to the daunting interview process. Vaishnavi understands the importance of having a supportive mentor throughout this process. Both her personal and professional experience in writing, editing, and revising has allowed Vaishnavi to guide several students to developing well-rounded, impactful narratives that demonstrate their readiness for a medical career.
In addition to extensive shadowing experience, Vaishnavi has worked as a clinical research assistant at an endocrinology lab, where she has assisted in developing numerous interventions for youth with prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Vaishnavi is an MCAT tutor, a biology teaching assistant, an academic scribe, and a founder and executive member of the Indian Student Association at her school. Vaishnavi has worked as a writing center tutor at her college, where she received extensive training in writing pedagogy and principles. She also volunteers at a women’s halfway house and Habitat for Humanity.
