Bio:
A medical mentor and essay coach with Moon Prep, Michael empowers each of his students with the necessary tools and an overarching strategy to successfully navigate each step of the BS/MD and medical school admissions process. As a published author and soon-to-be physician, he has a keen sense for perceiving personal themes which capture your student’s core to relay that message in the context of a story. His passion for mentoring students emanates from his love of problem-solving and developing innovative, individualized solutions. By tailoring unique strategies for each of his mentee’s goals (academic planning, standardized test preparation, resume building, extracurricular advising, and research opportunities), Michael has helped countless students matriculate into the program of their dreams.
Alongside his mentoring at Moon Prep, Michael is currently a fourth-year medical student at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Having successfully matched at his number one choice for a residency program, he will be a practicing Psychiatrist in June 2023. At his medical school, Michael was actively engaged in the admissions process and has seen what it takes to be a competitive applicant in the recruitment cycle. Michael draws on his expertise in the medical school admissions process to bridge the knowledge gap and maximize a student’s candidacy for matriculation into their top choice program. The prospect of helping others, his fascination with life stories, and his diverse academic and professional experiences lend to his thoughtful, strategic, insightful, and data-driven methodology.
Previously, Michael gained professional experience as a high school teacher and academic tutor. With 10+ years of experience mentoring students in science, mathematics, and SAT/ACT/MCAT preparation, Michael has a robust history of helping students reach their academic prowess. As an undergraduate student at the University of Miami, he worked as a resident scientist, a research assistant for quality improvement projects, an exercise assistant at the Herbert Wellness Center, and a teaching assistant for the UMiami Department of Biology and Chemistry. An avid researcher, Michael has published numerous manuscripts in medical journals, largely surrounding topics of mental health and psychiatry. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, and the American Medical Association.
