The Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics, better known as Casper, is a situational judgment test that some medical schools use to evaluate applicants’ ability to handle a tough situation by assessing the following characteristics:
- Equity
- Ethics
- Empathy
- Resilience
- Motivation
- Collaboration
- Self-awareness
- Communication
- Professionalism
- Problem Solving
Most medical students applying to a wide range of schools will need to take Casper. A few BS/MD programs will also require the exam for their applicants.

- How the exam is scored
- The format of the exam
- What ethics you should know
- When to use personal examples
- How to score higher on the exam
