An essay coach with Moon Prep, Meaghan partners with her students to craft memorable essays, personal statements, and well-rounded applications, drawing on her creative writing and research success to make them competitive for their top-choice programs at four-year universities, traditional medical schools, and direct graduate programs. As a medical mentor and current medical student, Meaghan is passionate about sharing her unique perspective from the highs and lows of the rigorous admissions process, guiding students applying to BS/MD programs, undergraduate colleges, and both allopathic and osteopathic medical schools. Her passion for the written word and her experience in scientific writing equip her with the skills to support students in formulating compelling essays and navigating the roads into medical school. She particularly aims to empower applicants by assisting in elevating their writing skills.

Alongside her mentoring at Moon Prep, Meaghan is currently a medical student at the Oakland University William Beaumont (OUWB) School of Medicine. Having successfully navigated the lengthy medical school admissions process, Meaghan is eager to share her unique perspective with students seeking to craft and submit a compelling application to competitive medical programs. Outside her full-time academic schedule, Meaghan is a student ambassador with her medical school’s admissions office, an executive board member at Street Medicine Oakland, and the advocacy chair at OUWB Pediatric Interest Group. Meaghan also works as a research assistant in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where she designs and implements research projects on the efficacy of telehealth for pediatric patients with acute concessions. She has direct experience with joint programs, having completed a five-year BS/MA program with an integrated curriculum highlighting clinical research. With her medical research and scientific writing, Meaghan has fine-tuned the skills and best practices needed to help students effectively highlight their strengths, academic goals, and career aspirations.

Previously, Meaghan worked as a clinical research coordinator at the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. In this role, she oversaw and executed NIH, NIDILRR, and PCORI-funded projects, primarily for the Brain Injury Research Center. At Trinity College, Meaghan spent four years as a research assistant in the Department of Neuroscience focusing on the use of fMRI in measuring the efficacy of cognitive rehabilitation for patients with acquired brain injuries. She has published on the history of traumatic brain injuries and baseline symptoms and has presented and lectured on concussions, memory training, and psychometric properties of memory. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Medical Women’s Association, and the American Medical Association. As a former college athlete with extensive research experience, Meaghan is focused on teamwork and collaboration and is particularly helpful to students seeking extracurricular activities, volunteer opportunities, and research projects. She is passionate about advising BS/MD and medical school students on creating a well-rounded application that will set them up for success.
