How to be an out-of-state student and pay in-state prices

The Associated Press counted at least 50 public colleges and universities nationwide that have lowered nonresident tuition by more than 10% in recent years.

Some universities in rural areas with declining populations — including Mississippi’s Alcorn State, Delta State and Mississippi Valley State — now charge all students the in-state rate, abolishing out-of-state surcharges.

It’s important for students to do their homework when it comes to the large difference in in-state and out-of-state pricing. It could save them tens of thousands of dollars.
